Kansas City Alaska Air flight among those delayed after FAA issues ground stop

Kansas City Alaska Air flight among those delayed after FAA issues ground stop
A nationwide ground stop for all Alaska Airlines' flights that was put in place Wednesday morning has had ripple effects into Kansas City, despite the fact that the stop has since been lifted. "This morning, we experienced an issue while performing an upgrade to the system that calculates our weight and balance. Out of an abundance of caution, we requested a ground stop for all Alaska and Horizon flights, which was instituted at approximately 7:30 a.m. PT. The issue was mitigated, and the ground stop for Alaska and Horizon flights expired at 8:30 a.m. PT,” the airline said in a statement.The FAA issued that ground stop at the airline's request. Because of that ground stop, airline officials said residual delays are expected as they begin to release flights nationwide. A Kansas City flight is on that delay list, per the flykc.com website. Alaska Air flight 296 to Seattle was scheduled to depart KCI at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday. That flight has been delayed until at least 2:38 p.m. "We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage guests to check the status of their flights on alaskaair.com or the Alaska App prior to heading to the airport," officials said in Wednesday's statement.

Alaska Air flight 296 to Seattle was scheduled to depart KCI at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday.
